Emily & Scout

Placerville, CA

An afternoon spent with Emily (pregnant with Violet!) and Scout in their sunny yard in early summer. Emily commissioned me to create an embroidered quilt as a backdrop for our photos. I created one out of vintage handkerchiefs and embroidered it with a beautiful Toni Morrison quote: "She gathers me. The pieces I am, she gathers them and gives them back to me in all the right order." These photos have stayed close to my heart over the years.
